To insure absolute surface uniformity, S&S pours
their glass onto a bed of mercury. Each piece of glass is perfectly flat and optically
pure. We use only 20 mm / 3/4 thick glass in our furniture range. This extremely
thick glass is unusual in the furniture industry, but it guarantees a high load
capacity and accentuates the elegant design of fine audio and
video components.

The top level alone
can bear 150 kg (330 lbs.). Each of the two or three (Plus versions) lower levels
can hold 80 kg (175 lbs.).
The shelves are height-adjustable; the rubber
padded top level is vibration-damped. A three-route, concealed cable guide is
built-in.
In the larger Focus models, the extra thick “Maxi” glass
shelves (20 mm / 3/4“ thick) are an especially attractive feature –
even more so when the optionally available lighting system is installed.

providing internal limit switches to allow for precision operation and having
safety features such as thermal overload protection to prevent the motor from
overheating..
Structural Integrity: All steel, welded construction utilizing
the highest quality components. A mechanism of this type has no rivets to loosen,
no plastic or synthetic parts to wear or break, and will require no maintenance.
Mechanical
Process: Rack and pinion operation to ensure smooth and stable travel regardless
of load distribution. All steel gears and gear racks in order to eliminate any
need for periodic lubrication and avoid the wear and breakage inherent in plastic
or synthetic gears and gear racks.
